Sterling Towne decided to take a last minute vacation to a sunny paradise to cheer herself up after a divorce. When the airline misplaces her luggage, she thinks it's just a typical airline snafu until she gets her luggage back only to find out it’s not hers. Rather the suitcase belongs to someone who thought it a good idea to transport a gold Buddha statue via commercial airlines. Sterling turns the statue into hotel security for safe keeping but then her room is ransacked, and she’s sure there was someone following her in town. Does the owner of the statue think she still has it? But if so, why not just ask? She’s getting nervous, and even her new friend Steve thinks she might be in danger. Is she? Or is her imagination just working over time?
Demystify the cloud by building your own private OpenStack cloud About This Book Set up a powerful cloud platform using OpenStack Learn about the components of OpenStack and how they interact with each other Follow a step-by-step process that exposes the inner details of an OpenStack cluster Who This Book Is For If you need to get started with OpenStack or want to learn more, then this book is your perfect companion. If you're comfortable with the Linux command line, you'll gain confidence in using OpenStack. What You Will Learn Install OpenStack using the Packstack installation tool Create users, cloud images, and virtual networks to launch cloud instances Explore horizontal scaling to support the load that a cloud platform is expected to handle Set up monitoring to keep track of the health of an OpenStack cloud Troubleshoot issues with an OpenStack cluster Build storage and access it from your running cloud instances Orchestrate a multi-instance deployment to build a complex set of virtual infrastructure to run an application in the cloud Keep track of resources being consumed within an OpenStack cloud through metering In Detail An OpenStack cloud is a complex jungle of components that can speed up managing a virtualization platform. Applications that are built for this platform are resilient to failure and convenient to scale.
OpenStack allows administrators and developers to consolidate and control pools of compute, networking, and storage resources, with a centralized dashboard and administration panel to enable the large-scale development of cloud services. Begin by exploring and unravelling the internal architecture of the OpenStack cloud components. After installing the RDO distribution, you will be guided through each component via hands-on exercises, learning more about monitoring and troubleshooting the cluster. By the end of the book, you'll have the confidence to install, configure, and administer an OpenStack cloud. This is a practical and comprehensive tutorial on sorting out the complexity of an OpenStack cloud.
LISO Advanced contains 10 Units. Listening In and Speaking Out focuses on spontaneous spoken English with the aim of bridging the gap between "classroom English" an the English that students are likey to encounter on their own. The activities are based on two kinds of recordings meke by native speakers of English from various regions of the United States. The first recording in each unit is an unscripted, unrehearsed Monolog wich lasts approximately on minute. Each speaker describes a past experience or relates an anecdore in an informal manner, as if speaking to friends. The second recording in each unit is an unrehearsed Dramatization, also unscripted to ensure spontaneity wich lasts approximately a minute and a half.
It incorporates some element of conflict or disagreement in order to expose students to expressions of strong feelings and to provide them with an opportunity to discuss a variety of emotional responses. Because the language on the recording was unrehearsed and the interactions were spontaneous the learners will hear many instances of natural hesitations, interruptions, parenthetical expressions, unfinished sentences and awkward or "incorrect" grammatical construcions.
Sometimes they will hear very rapid speech an at other times slower rates of delivery.
Through exposeure to the ordinary phenomena of spoken English in LISO, learner are given the opportunity to develop the skill of understanding real conversations in English spoken at normal speed. In addition, the material provides: 1) An opportunity for students to speak informally.
2) A learning environment that is student-centered and. 3) Activities that help students develop the confidence, motivation and ideas for on-going self-instruction.
